New Servers and Significant Performance Enhancements

Today we are happy to announce that we have completed the migration of Rollbase.com to a new set of Rackspace DELL PowerEdge servers. Each server in this new cluster has two Intel XEON dual-core processors, 8GB RAM, running a 64-bit OS. We have also migrated to 64-bit versions of Java, Apache, Tomcat, and MySQL.

As a result you should expect to see significant performance improvements. This is not without an infrastructure cost increase on our side, but we think you will find our investment worthwhile.

In addition to these upgrades, we moved the CSV/XLS import engine off of the master server which should help balance the load further during large imports. Thank you for your patience during this move and please do let us know what you think!

Planned Maintenance on Sunday, January 9th

Rollbase has scheduled a planned maintenance window from 8am to 5pm PST on Sunday, January 9th 2011, during which time the service may be unavailable.

We will be migrating to a new set of DELL PowerEdge servers, which will provide both significant performance increases and give us the ability to scale to larger numbers of concurrent users. Thank you in advance for your patience!

Register.com suffers ddos attack, availability may be sporadic until this is fixed

We have had several reports of inability to access Rollbase.com. This is due to a distributed denial of service (ddos) attack aimed at Register.com, our domain registrar. From their website:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: 3:30 PM, Saturday, November,13th - On Friday, November 12th we were hit by a distributed denial of service attack (ddos). We are actively working to mitigate the attack and restore services as soon as possible. If you require further assistance please contact customer service at 1888.734.4783. We will update you as soon as we have more information. 



Rollbase profiled in JMP Securities' Computing as a Service Report

Today we received our copy of JMP Securities' April 2010 technology report titled "At Your Service: The Rise of Computing as a Service". See page 122 for the Rollbase profile (pics below). 

We are also quietly celebrating the largest rollout to date of a partner-built Rollbase application. More than 1,000 users at a large financial institution are now sharing access to a single Rollbase account! We believe this may be one of the largest PaaS implementations in the industry and we expect to release more details on this project in the near future.
